Have had my silverado parked on a very slight incline for a few months and tried driving it not too long ago, I noticed the parking break is non-existant.

I had 0 issues before it was parked so this is new to me. Fluid levels seem ok, I just had my rotors and brake pads replaced before it was parked

brakes pump funny too, but they stop

what caused it?

ok so I just looked around on the internet and it is likely because it is sitting uncovered and it is just getting rusted beyond belief.

Any tips on how to prevent this from happening if a garage is a no go?

Parking brake is cable driven, it has nothing to do with fluids.
You're right it probably rusted. Best way to keep this from happening is to use it. They tend to freeze up if you don't use them.

Brakes may seem funny right now because if it sat for a while the rotors and drums (if you have them in the back) probably got some rust on them too so that has to wear back off.

I just tested the parking break and it works, didn't feel like it at first though.

Better start driving it on the weekends to home depot =)

lol, I would sell it if it wasn't paid off
