so, my parents are thinking of getting a new car.............

i had been complaining about them wanting to get a ford focus 2004 instead of a nissan sentra and they were looking around. they say with gas prices high, they are going to trade in the familys ford excursion for a ford focus 2004. i dont like the idea but i also dont have a job. well, they came home and my mom just came upstairs and said that they decided not to get the focus, they said that they could get the kia rio at the same dealership for 3 grand cheaper. i was in shock. i hate the way the focus looks but god, a kia? i went downstairs and saw the excursion still parked in the garage and i said, whats the deal? they then laughed in my face and they said, makes you appreciate the idea of a ford focus eh?

When YOU start paying the bills, then YOU can decide what kind of car you want. Until then, shut your fvcking mouth you whiney bitch.

Where does he say the car was for him? All I see is the "familys ford excursion" for a ford focus. He probably doesn't like the focus as it will likely be passed on to him in the future. As far as I'm concerned, you all made dumbasses out of yourselves.

Hey moron, he clearly states he has no job, therefore he probably drives the family vehicle when he can. So he doesn't want to be seen in a "lowly" Focus of Kia. My point is that until he gets a job and starts paying for things himself, he has no right to bitch and whine about what cars his parents purchase. Oh, so he doesn't like the Focus because it will passed onto him? TOUGH SH|T!!! Get a fvcking job and get the car you want. Otherwise shut your piehole and drive what you are given.

Who's the dumbass now, Sh|tbrick?

Who are you to say whether he can or can not have input as to which car his parents get next? Why's everybody getting all hot and bothered about this?

You're right. I am no one to be saying he can have no input. I am not the one that raised an unappreciateive little snit who cries because he doesn't like the kind of car I am purchasing with MY hard earned moeny, with NO contribution from him other than the occasional tank of gas he remembers to refill. But if I were his parents, I would tell him to STFU and start coughing up some cash if he wants to have say in things. MY house, MY rules. MY cash, MY f'ing car. Get it now?

You're assuming alot, aren't you. He has no job, where does he say he has no car. Do you know how old he is? No. How do you know he even drives? Maybe he just didn't want his parents to get themselves (he says his parents want to get a new car) a car that will be on the losing end of resale value and general quality control? As far as I'm concerned, you're still the dumbass.

If the car is not for him why would he say "i dont like the idea but i also dont have a job" and "they then laughed in my face and they said, makes you appreciate the idea of a ford focus eh?"

His parents are obviously getting him a car, or at least a family car that he will be driving and their little joke is to teach him to be more appreciative.

You must live in some fantasy land where all parents run their homes like a dictatorship and exclude their children in the decision making process entirely and have their kids grow up to be those who are considered anal whores. I mean when you grew up, your parents must have asked you nothing and done everything without any regards whatsoever about your thoughts and feelings? Must have been nice living in an environment considering you want it to be reproduced in households across American without knowing anything of the situation aside from 150 words written anonymously on the internet.

Hmm, he has no job, but somehow he has a car? How is he paying for the gas, insurance, maintenance, etc? Kickbacks from mommy and daddy? Possibly. As for how old he is, apparently he is still living at home, as his mom had to go "upstairs" (his room?) and break the news to him. As for him not wanting his parents to get a car on the losing end of blah blah blah... it's their fvcking money and I should hope they know how to spend it wisely themselves, and not need the financial counseling of their no job having child.

It must be nice how you're still avoiding the fact that you don't know any of these things and are making assumptions, although likely assumptions. I guess you've never heard of someone living at home merely for the financial benefits? How about not currently having a job because he got fired?

Yea, they should ignore their stupid children because they're younger and obviously don't know as much about everything as the parents do. It must be the same way with everything, with all the other members here posting about how their educated parents need help with computers. But of course, they must be lying because the parents are older and hence must understand the workings of something they don't understand better then their child who has been playing on it for prelonged periods.

You are probably in your teen years and want to drive something a little better. I know I did when I was younger, and it's hard to see how hard your parents actually work. The Excursion does guzzle gas and it probably cost an arm and a leg to fill up. Going with a smaller car right now is probably a good idea since gas prices are pretty high (even in Texas). Until you get out in the real world and try to make ends meet, try to put yourself in yourself in their position. It's hard to see now but as time passes you'll look back and understand. Trust me.

Chris' Dad: "Hey son, how would you like a ford probe gt?"
Chris: "I wouldn't like one, they're crappy cars."
Chris' Dad: "Oh, well I'll just take the one I just bought you back."
Chris: "What?!"
Chris' Dad took the car back, and Chris had to buy his own car with no help from his dad :p It was a '96 GT... I prefer the '89 GT model over all others, personally...

jesus people, chill out
If my parents would be getting a Kia, I'd be pissed. Pissed because they didn't make the best choice, money-wise. Not only because I don't like Kias.

My dad bought an XG300 when they came out and when he got home, he told me I would be disapointed of the car he had just bought. I was. He ended up selling it a year and a half later because his warranty was over and it kept breaking up. He lost a lot of money on that car. See, parents aren't always right.

Another funny story: my mom was buying a new (new for us) car a few years back but she didn't tell me she had bought one until she came home. She got in the house and told me she had bought a car today, the same car as our neighbor, an old Mazda 323. For a second, I felt like crying. I was trying to find good points about the car. "Oh well, it will be cheaper on gas", and... and.... well I couldn't find anything else. But I got in the living room and saw an Olds Cutlass Supreme outside, I was pretty happy to see that instead of the 323!

yea, no kidding. Instead, some asshat has to get up on his soapbox about "paying for your own sh!t" and ruins a perfectly good thread.

on a similar note. two of my sister in-laws have Focus's. they have pretty bad gas mileage, at least compared to our sunfire. They don't seem to be any more reliable either, I know the one has been in and out of the shop a lot, could be an isolated instance, who knows?
