I'd take Fayette-Nam over the Dakotas any day. It is kind of a trashy city, but that part of NC is beautiful, and you can go outside more than 3 months out of the year.

Going to Lackland AFB? I was there for 28 fun days with AFROTC. It's a breeze, trust me. The fun part is to play the BS game...like where's Waldo. The only problem is that you find the BS pretty much everywhere! PM me if you want info about basic, ect.

Hell, they should feel lucky they were stationed in friggin florida for so long. Air Force is a risk and you take those risks and I don't want to hear the whining when things don't go that way. I have had some of my friends sign up for the national guard to get free school...then 9/11 happens and guess what? Some of them have to go to war and they are crying to me about it. I pay for your friggin school and you took the chance and that is all there is to it.

That's a shame, it does look pretty bad!

It does.

wow.

So.... why did they put fayeteville on their list at all??
there must have been more than ten options.

There were 10 job openings at different bases for the 10 SrMSGTs that made rank in my father specific field, they gave each person the list of those to bases and had each person rank them by which base they'd like to go to. Usually most people will go to one of the bases that they ranked the highest, but not always :(

South dakota was nice - we lived there for 4 years, my parents loved it :) What does fayette-man have that the Dakotas don't? :p

Yea - :) We live near Lynn Haven, though, which is the best part of this area.

Fayetteville is getting better. I like NC better than Tacoma. The crime rate in Tacoma isn't better. Since you are in Florida now, the weather in NC will be more suitable too.

Rapid City is a cool place, it's just a long ways from anything else. My wife is from near there and her mother is stationed at Camp Rapid. There's tons of things to do if you are into outdoorsy stuff - hiking, skiing, snowmobiling, mountain biking, ect. The winters in Rapid can get pretty chilly, but the rest of the year is very pleasant.

With the exception of some crime in a few parts of town, it's a pretty safe area, and it's reasonably inexpensive to live there.

Well it's nice to see that *somebody* wants to come to ND. :D

If they would have been assigned to ND, they most likely would have ended up in GF (although Minot is a possibility), which is where I live 9 months out of the year (and now where I keep the crime level down ;)).
