parents computer

computer i was at my parents house the other day and found out thier computer was really messed up (hate the word filters on here)..... was wondering if any of u have any suggetions....thier computer crahsed, and they took it to this place to get back thier information..... my parents being farmers with all of thier account information on it and lots of gps info on it it was kind of important to do this... well they got all of thier information back of the hard drive but the one thing that the computer place couldnt do was get the computer to remember some of the hardware things that are on it... for example the modem or speakers that kind of stuff.... so every time u turn on thier computer u have to install hardware.....which is realitivly easy but annoying...any suggestions to the problem? i guess the computer place had it for a week and couldnt figure it out

Reinstall the O/S and then re-load the backups.

thats what i thought... i guess they did that at the computer store though and it didnt work
