Alright, anyone else notice the similarities here?
*HL1 and TheMatrix:
- Both awesome, most people liked them
- Great storyline, well told/revealed
- Set a bunch of standards
- Developed cult following
*HL2 and TheMatrix:Reloaded:
- Highly anticipated
- Not nearly as great a storyline, too many loose ends
- Very convoluded storyline thus far, too much new stuff that isn't explained
- Still entertaining (great graphics) but not as good as the original
- Weaknesses will be able to be forgotten if third installment ties everythign up in a nice package.
Now, as we all know what happened with TheMatrix:Revolutions NOTHING was tied up and it sucked worse than the 2nd one, ultimately ruining the series (at least for me)... hopefully, the current trend does not continue and HL3 is sweet and ties up all the loose ends and makes stuff make sense again.
I hope the same thing that happened to the Wachowsci bros doesn't happen to Valve (ie try to do too much that you lose the quality).
Here's hoping for an excellent Half-Life 3
