Parallels and Hard Drive from PC

I am moving my main computer to my new macbook pro.

The Macbook has a tiny harddrive 128GB. I would like to get rid of my PC Tower and use the Hard Drive from that computer as the windows that Parallels uses. Figured I can get a USB 3.0 enclosure for it. It already has everything I need on it and is setup the way I need it to be.

Is it possible to do that? I know I can't be the first person who has wanted to pursue that.

You can convert a Windows box to a VM for Parallels. http://kb.parallels.com/en/115007

However, as far as I know, you can't do it in the way you want. You would have to convert the PC to a VM, then store the VM file on an external drive.

Apparently you can move a PC to the bootcamp partition, but you would need the space on your drive to hold all that data. http://twocanoes.com/winclone/support/migrating-a-real-pc-to-boot-camp-with-winclone-4
