Parallel port for a PCI-X system without one

Need a parallel port for a rack mount server, but it only has PCI-X slots, which I believe are 3.3v, and add-in Parallel PCI cards are 5v. Help?

M4H, yes at least one should be, but I think Dell screwed up and put in wrong riser. Then again, even with correct riser, it may still only support 3.3v cards, which are keyed differently than older 5v cards.

bowserjs, you rock. Thanks for the linky.

You could also use a Parallel to USB adapter cable - probably considerably less expensive than that Siig card...

Not completely. Some older legacy cards will not operate in a PCI-X system. If it has a notch on the front of the card as well as the back then it is PCI 2.2 complient. Non 2.2 complient cards have one notch to the rear. PCI 3.0 will not have a notch to the rear but will only have one in the front and will be 3.3 volt only.

My solution to this problem is a USB port replicator

Compaire the two PCI 2.2 and 1.1 -1.0 cards slot edge connectors

PCI 2.2 Complient Wireless NIC

Conventional PCI 1.0 - 1.1
