I have heard of these around the forums, but haven't found much info on them.
I was wondering if the abit made adapters will work on any motherboard, specifically the Intel i845PEBT2. I won't need raid capability.

are there any drawbacks to using them? using them on a non abit board? Where is a good place to pick them up?

Haven't used one so I can't tell you how they perform but I know Newegg sells them.

I thought about getting a PATA-to-SATA adapter just to be able to hotswap drives, but I have no idea if those adapters can be used that way.

I know there are Highpoint and promise SATA controllers and most adapters can be used on those, but my motherboard has a Silicon Image SATA link controller. Need to know if that controller can handle the adapters like the abit serillel one.

what sucks is that the more generic adapters have little or no description to what controllers they will work on.
