Anandtech reviewed the PAL8045 with three fans back in September:

Delta 80x80x38mm 68 CFM

Orix 80x80x25mm, supplied by Alpha

Papst 80x80x25mm "quiet" solution fan, supplied by Frozen Silicon .

Anybody know where I could pick up the Pabst? -There doesn't seem to be an English version of the Frozen Silicon site. The USA distributor for the Papst fans is EBM Industries, inc. www.ebm.com/
 
$20 for a 80mm fan? this is too much. i hope the price will come down to $7 or $8. now i use the panaflo L1A, they are pretty quiet, but not as quiet as those papst fans. you can get them like $3 each from the hot deal forum which is more reasonable.
 
Yes, $20 is a bit pricey, but well worth it. I've got several of the Papst 8412-series fans, and they're just great. The NGL is silent, and I'm not kidding - yet it moves basically 20cfm. Coupled with a good heatsink -- MC462-A, for example -- it's enough to keep even an overclocked Birdie cool without blowing your ears out with a Delta. I know 😀
