paper washers that came with my case - do I need to use these?

I am in the middle of my first build and my case came with these little rings that seem to be made of some type of paper/cardboard material. I assume these are supposed to go on top of the motherboard, and underneath the screws that screw into the standoffs on the motherboard - basically a washer to go with the screws that are used to screw the motherboard to the standoffs.

What is the actual purpose of these things? Do I really need them?

Here's a pic, with a screw and brass standoff included for reference:

I believe there purpose is to insulate the mobo from the mobo tray, however AFAIK most motherboards are designed to be grounded from the screw holes so i would not bother with them, i have built 100's of PC's and never used them and have never had any problems. my newest case didnt even come with them so i dont think its a big deal.

Well technically wouldn't they be insulating the motherboard from the screws? The paper washers are supposed to go on top of the motherboard screw holes, and then the screws are screwed into the standoffs through the holes. The tops of the screws would therefore be resting on the paper washers.

They are probably a "good thing to do," but I doubt most people ever use them (including myself). I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I haven't seen those things in years...who manufactured the mobo and what model is it?
