Has anyone heard this album?

It's absolutely amazing. It really is the first album in a long time that I really WANT to listen to from start to end. When people ask me which songs are good, I just tell them, "Put it in and press play."

You will really enjoy this album if you like:
Jimmy Eat World
Something Corporate
Jack's Mannequin
Green Day
Taking Back Sunday
Good Charlotte
The Draft
The Audition
Boys Like Girls
etc.

Shout out if you've heard it!!

their ocean ave cd was great, but i really didnt like lights and sounds because it was too poppy and they underutilized the violin.... is the violin back in this album?

The violin is back--and it's great. This CD is much more like Ocean Avenue.

Definitely check it out if you liked Ocean Avenue much better than Lights and Sounds.

Never heard it, but if you listed those bands as similar in sound I'd have to argue the 'punk' genre.

I listened to Ocean Ave and was completely unimpressed.
NOFX is still putting out some of the best punk albums. You want something fresher, check out Straight Outta Junior High.

Brand new is pretty good, their first two cds are great, and this one is OK in my opinion. I saw them at the Borgata on memorial day. good concert, but it seems like they want to play less and less of their old stuff :(

and yeah yellowcard really shouldnt be categorized in the punk genre, more like pop /alt rock or something :)

I refer to those bands (and several others) as faux punk. Genre disputes aside, I don't really like Yellowcard. There's just something about them that I find irritating (and I don't mind most of the bands that are similar). I don't know what it is.

Could it be their cookie-cutter MTV corporate music?

DING!
Save the real punk music for the real punks.
Enjoy your teen-music :)
(on that note, Yellowcard has never been, nor will be "good")

Maybe, but that doesn't usually bother me (hell, not even Nickelback and all the other bands that people around here hate really bother me). There's something particular about this band that does get on my nerves.

I wouldn't call "Yellowcard" or any of the bands you listed "punk." More like, pop-rock.

But anyway I think Yellowcard is decent and has a pretty good drummer. I heard their one single on the radio and I liked it a lot, I'll probably be picking up this CD soon.

I like brand new a lot. their new album takes time to grow on you i think...they've got some pretty powerful songs on there, Limousine, you won't know, Degausser

brand new ruined me with their new album, i had unbelievably high expectations and was unbelievably let down by their new album although I do like that jesus christ song, they do have some really interesting lyrics that are clever 'what did you do those three days you were dead cuz this problems gonna last more than a weekend' good stuff

Hmm, I think this was reviewed in my school newspaper, and they gave it 0 stars out of 5, which seemed like cheating to me.

Good lord this is awful. I've heard of them but never listned to their music, and to call them "punk" is a complete insult to every punk band out there.

Then I read your list of bands to compare them to and realized you have no idea what punk is.

they are pop-punk. there is no need to go into a debate on what is punk and what isn't. who cares?!

The amount of negativity in this thread just goes to prove no matter who you are, where you live, and what you like.....

Your favorite band sucks.
