plastic.

i can usually get all my groceries in one or two trips (living in apartment going upstairs, this is important), by loading up my forearms with 6-7 bags.

if i had a garage and less distance / stairs to travel, i'd use paper.

Yeah. I use plastic for the same reason. Also, I reuse the plastic bags for my lunch during the week.

If I rode my bike to the store, I prefer paper, as I can fit two bags in my milk crate on the rear. If I walked, plastic, since they are easier to carry.

I do both - paper for the strength and plastic for the handles. It's like giving Mother Nature two black eyes at the same time!

I loathed people who would ask for one thing per bag because they wanted them light. Then, when you put a loaf of bread with a small candy bar, they flip out.

Yeah that too. I've never understood why people are dicks to the person serving them (bagging their groceries, handling their food, money, etc...). I would make sure to drop any fruit into the bags of people who were dicks to me so it was nice and bruised.

I used to work at a golf course on the grounds crew at a really expensive club. Some of the members were complete dicks to us, hit shots toward us and wouldn't warn us, etc...

We got to know who they were and then we would follow them around the course and fire up the weed-eater every time they were teeing off.

Definitely remember abusing people's food when they were assholes. It was even better when people would tell you how to do your job. Sometimes, I would feel like saying, "I don't go to your office and tell you how to do your fucking job, so don't stand here and tell me not to put the milk on top of the eggs." I can't believe I worked in a ShopRite for 4 years (middle of 9th grade through just before leaving for college and again in the summer between 1st year and 2nd year, but the later time was mixed in with being a swim counselor, which in contrast to being a cashier was a lot of fun). Never again will I work in that God-forsaken store.

Seriously people.. spend 99 cents on a resuable bag. Stronger than paper, better handles than plastic.... AND it's way better for the environment.

I bring my own. I find those reuseable bags way more functional and for only 99 cents you can't go wrong they work for everything.

Paper bags, so I can put cans, bottles, newspaper and magazines in them for recycling.

It's bad enough that I have to bring my own bat when I go out to club baby seals; now you want me to bring my own bags to the grocery store??

I go with plastic. It's easiest for the bagger and it's easiest for me to carry. It's made of recycled plastic and it get recycled again. I also have 2 uncles who work in plastic bag factories and because of fuckers like the above, they are in danger of being laid off.

My mom is good at needlework; she makes nice tote bags from old clothing.
I have three bags made from old pants and t-shirts. They've got capacity that's a bit more than a regular paper bag, and can hold more weight.

Much better than the 99 cent bags, and they cost me nothing. :)

Easy, buddy... I applaud you for recycling. At least you are making an effort.
It's just that plastic bags are HORRIBLE for the environment.
I'm sorry that your family members might get laid off, but that's what happens when an industry gets phased out. When the people of the world realize that something they're doing is wasteful or not efficient and try to change, don't be mad.

Mr Pickles, you usually make good polls. This time, you have failed us.

Yessir. Poll failure.

I bring my own reusable ones. Better bags and I don't have a bunch of paper or plastic bags to deal with afterwards.
