Being a successful paparazzo requires good information, speed and instinct. You're basically a hunter trying to find prey that is doing their best to avoid you.

That said, my camera of choice for that situation would be a Nikon D3; arguably the best combination of speed, low-light performance and ruggedness. Pair it with a 70-200VR and 200-400VR; and have a 24-70 on hand in those situations when you're up close and personal.

How about a 1D Mark III with one of THESE bad boys?

With 1560mm equivalent focal length, you could be sniping away from a half mile off or more :D

O that's not bad, maybe i'll buy a few, lol
A good celebrity snap could net you four-figures easy; cover images could net you five-figures.

Of course, if you're not really cut out to be a paparazzo, then it's money down the drain.

Don't forget a suppressor, a good deal of subsonic rounds, and maybe some poison.

As a paparazzi, you want to have a second camera with the 24-70mm on. no time for a lens change while you are on the mission.

As a B list celeb, my hope is to become A list and make 30million a picture, then just for fun sell pictures of crotch shots of myself to tabloids for extra cash. Just need a cell phone camera for that.

Hey guys, found a new paparazzi lens: Text

You'd have to be darn good at manually focusing to use such a long tele effectively

with a split-prism focusing screen in a big bright full-frame viewfinder, it's a piece of cake.

Nikon D3 body $3,699.95 or Sony PMW EX1 $6,099.95

I wonder how the video of the Nikon compares to the EX1...

EDIT: Never Mind... just checked some D3 videos...
