Well the max term was 6 months and he did cooperate.. so.. but yeah its too low. I would have thought at least 3 months.

I'm sure he rolled like a marble when he realized he was in trouble. I suspect his malfeasance didn't really extend beyond lying to protect others.

The max recommendation was six months, not the max term. Reading the prosecutor's report to the court I was astonished they recommended zero to six months, when they said his lies stymied the investigation at a critical early point.

He got off really lightly-maybe there is some reason that is not apparent now, we will see.

I'd say 2-3 months sounds more appropriate myself, but handing out a light sentence at the beginning of it all might send a message to those who don't have immunity and have yet to face the music.

I'm think'in he gave the Mueller team such a wealth of goodies on Trump they had to reward Papadopoulos with a slap on his shiny forehead and a two week stay at Club Fed.

Not according to the prosecutors. "Even after his arrest and plea agreement last year, prosecutors say Papadopoulos continued to be difficult with investigators, only providing information after being confronted with documents such as emails and text messages. Overall, they say Papadopoulos did not provide 'substantial assistance.' "

Thanks for that info.

So then the question remains: Why such a lenient sentence? From what I've heard on MSNBC, the message being sent out by the Mueller team is "Cooperate and get a light sentence. Don't cooperate and you end up like what Manafort got and what he is now being dragged through."

It's up for 5 yrs, but according to the guidelines I believe max for Pap was around ~6 months. We have a really crappy justice system. I mean, Reality Winner will serve several times as much as many of the Trump-Russia people, who will all get sweet deals just to take down Trump who is likely going to be at death's door not to long from now, and will undoubtedly have a lengthy time to trial.

I can understand the tactical reasons for such a light sentence recommendation here, assuming he is giving, or has given, them anything of value. But I also think it sends a bad message. The CNN piece on this mentioned Alex Van Der Swan, the Dutch lawyer who was previously sentenced for lying to investigators in this probe. He got 30 days. People need to understand that lying to the FBI has consequences. Both them should have gotten 6 months.

Is the kind of jail that will be 14 days of man sex or the kind that will be 14 days of limited TV & Internet access?

Little fish gets tossed back in the pond. No reason to keep it when there are bigger ones already in the boat & they're hitting like crazy...

Well, Trump promised to reopen Guantanamo and stock it full of terrorists!

Tons of people in the Trump administration, campaign, family, and empire that are more than qualified to rot their earthly husks away in that hell hole. And oh how fitting it would be.

Trump thinks waterboarding is great and that it works. So let's waterboard that fat fuck endlessly and just be done with all of this, I say.

I saw a meme on Imgur that pointed out this asshole got 14 days but a woman was sentenced to 5 years for accidentally voting when she didnt know her voting rights had been revoked, for not voting last year.
