Their stretch goals are pretty aggressive. Is it possible they'll get millions in funding?

It's been hinted at that if they meet their KS goal, they'll get additional funding. They eventually would like all that stuff in though whether it be at launch or after.

The same Brad McQuaid that totally tanked Vanguard and bailed on his employees?
yeah, anything he's involved with is a non starter for me after that fiasco.

Sorry, but, already having a thread here, i didn't feel comfortable making a new one; should the mods object, my apologies in advance.

It's been a good few years, things have changed a lot and what cause(s) for concern existed have long since been dispelled or taken care of. Well, much as they can be in this time and age. For what it's worth, i too had written this off entirely, just did not think Brad capable. Yet here we are now! :)

Assuming anyone has any interest in the game or is willing to re-consider/examine their original stance towards it, i'm currently trying to find more like-minded individuals so as to form a guild. It's not your usual kind, it's not the type that's for everyone, but it might be for you.
If you've got the time, perhaps you could have a look: http://pantheonmmo.com/content/forums/topic/6116/gauging-interest

Thank you for reading and best of luck :)

I couldn't find anything, not even news about a beta that wasn't "we'll have a beta in 2017" but no news since. Just a link to give them money and promises of future things. Either they don't keep their website up to date or there's nothing available, either is bad. I've been itching for a new mmo with modern systems coupled with old school difficulties but haven't found anything that isn't junk.

It's not released yet. It's currently in pre-alpha with the next phase expected towards the end of this year. There have been quite a few pre-alpha gameplay vids though, along with dev interviews.

Surprised they are still l developing after 4 years they must have very deep pockets. I've been waiting for years and it's always just around the corner. Heck Everquest Next was like only 2 years in development with some great new ideas and it was tashed.

I loved EQ but my raiding guild disbanded and it was taking to much out of my life. I played rift for a couple years and that was fun but the raiding scene I didn't like. I was hoping for EQ next but now I wait for Patheon and wait and wait..

I was never certain which ideas were actually going to make it into EQN. The combat in EQN seemed like it was going to be button mashing action like so many soulless new MMORPGs, but they also did have a lot of stuff in Landmark, but as far as I could tell any meaningful mining and building was going to be in Landmark, not EQN. I guess their inability to figure that out was probably part of the cancellation.

As for Pantheon that seems like it's steadily moving forward, but slowly. It does seem like it's going to take old school difficulties to their extremes though -

Apologies for the delay;

As already mentioned, no, in fact we're about a year off as far as i can gather? Presumably more as it's been repeatedly stated that securement of extra funds will prolong development even further; a good thing.
To answer the evident follow up, i chose to post at this time for two reasons:

1) I believe the game is (by now) at a state where everyone can tell if it is or is not meant for them (not just software-wise, but overall; target audience, funding, reception, developing team, communication, what is being shared and to what an extent; and of course yes, what we have seen in a playble state). This is of extra import in this title, as it's had a rather rocky beginning. As previously mentioned, i too had initially written it off. You could at best have called me cynical and yet here i am now.

That being the case, i know i can start enquiring without fear of getting false positives.
* Or so i'd have thought, lol, see mention of Everquest Next above *

2) Ethics aside, the game does sport pre-access packages. Given the above, this also entails that most of those interested will be taking "advantage" of that, myself included.

Now if it matters, we all (seven of us thus far, though no guarantees) have Alpha access, meaning around December as things currently stand. We can have some early fun, we can start getting to know each other. Aaand.. see if we get to regret pledging in the first place :)

I had done the Kickstarter but when it failed I didn't give money through their website and considering how long it's been I'm not regretting it. I almost wish they'd release early access for a few zones, a few races/class and add more until content for us to test before release. I'd gladly pay a monthly fee to play in early access but I don't plan on donating a large amount to get Alpha/Beta when they are months away from even that.

I'd rather pay a monthly subscription fee rather than they sell stuff in game that's one reason I left EQ. At one times illusions and other unique items were rare and you had to quest for them (hence the games name) they were hard to get which made them worthwhile and fun to get now it's all about the $$. Everquest became Evercheck.

I started Eq2 again on my old account... I had to buy the expansion pack, I bought a couple of mercs, a familiar, I had to buy a character slot and the all access sub to not be too gimped... cost me about 60$ for one month! I figure that's the price of a new game so paid it but wasn't too happy. Now I want to buy the Channeler class but that's 20$ and I need another slot which is another 10$ so not sure I will bother.

But yes, Pantheon having subs is one of the main reasons I want to play.

No other option to play Pantheon :)
They've repeatedly stated there'll be no RMT, store, gifts, lock boxes, etc. Proper subscription+initial "box" fee like it used to be, no alternatives, no extras.

The, err, pre-launch(?) pledges are for their funding, given the failed Kickstarter. Admittedly, i'd obviously rather they didn't exist either, but you can't win them all; plus, they don't offer anything of actual import and they do come bundled with a few months of subscription, so to be fair, it's kinda O.K.

* a note here that they've recently secured proper funding as well, the external, regular kind; hence the delay, we'll be getting full crafting from launch, was to be an expansion thing originally. You want to criticise them for continuing to accept pledges despite that, i won't stop you ^^

I mean if this is your kind of game (and as stated above, by now there's enough info for anyone to know, for sure), you've been without one for 10,15 years by now? I know i have.. So chances are you're in, chances are you're after a subscription anyway, chances are you've pledged because it was this close to never happening and your help was needed.
My own way of excusing it perhaps, but i cannot compare this kind of pledging to Kickstarter scams or early access money-for-nothing shenanigans (don't even consider those, ever).
