Anybody have Panda? PC World mag apparently loves it. I've used the only Active Scan and its picked up stuff that my anti-spy could find (Ad-Aware, Ewido). I figured for $6 + shipping it's worth a shot.

I don't know about their Anti-Virus, but I currently have Panda Platinum Internet Security 2006 and LOVE it.

In the title on the link page, it states it is the 2006 version, but further down the page in the description it says 2005? Maybe just a typo in the description?

Definitely worth it for the price, especially for those who wanna try something new.

I didn't have anything except the software in my cart and in let the order go through. I got a confirmation e-mail and a verified/processing e-mail from mwave. However, if it gets kicked back to me for any reason or I lose the $3 instant rebate, I'll be sure to post.

A quick search of the product number (BT6B12) reveals that it's the manufacturer's product number for Panda Titanium 2006. A google search reveals several vendors selling products with the same product number as Panda Titanium 2006. The 2005 may have been been a typo in the mwave item description. I'll let you know what I get (if I get anything... see above...).

Still running off the free year of eTrust that I got from here, but I might have to pick this up and keep it around for my next machine

Panda is very effective anti-virus software and the security suite is better still, I use it on my kids PC's along with the built in web filtering which is also very effective. The only real negative is the user ID which you need when re-installing or renewing the product, if you have multiple copies reqistered to the same e-mail it can be a pain to deal with.

Panda uses a whole lotta resources at system boot time. I would only recommend for win xp systems (no ME/98)...but that's just my opinion. IF you have lots of RAM and the system is fairly clean (no outdated drivers/hardware that doesn't quite work right) then you'll have no problems with those OSs, but with those issues, I ran into problems on some 98 machines in the past.

The deal is still available and I received my copy without purchasing any hardware so they must not be enforcing that OEM rule very strictly. As for these comments, yeah I have noticed that it's slower to boot than without Panda, but at the same time Panda has been blocking network virus attacks and DoS attacks pretty frequently. Granted, I run XP sans SP2 so there's a lot of vulnerability there to exploit.

We have Panda BusinessSecure for a corporate solution and it is a major resource hog. It will easily double the boot time on even the fastest mahcines, and slow down any machines with < 512MB of ram to a crawl. It also detects almost any web cookie as spywhere, so I have to take complaints from people about the little banners popping up at the bottom of their screens all day. The Individual Titanium version may be a lot better though.

I don't trust Panda at all. My girlfriends parents have it on their PC, and it uses at least 130Mb of RAM, just after startup. Given they only hav 512MB anyway, that's a bit annoying (thanks to all the crap that has accumulated on it, it now uses around 450mb of ram, directly after startup has [eventually] finished!).

It does pop up regularly on their machine giving warnings of how it's saved your PC from a fate worse than death, but far as I'm concerned, they could eaaasily be fabricated.

Also, Ive read people have a bit of a problem if they should dare try to uninstall it.

Just my .02

Never had a problem here w/Panda.

This is cheaper than going through the regular channels to continue service. I ordered multiple ones and they arrived today.

I use Panda Titanium on 7 pc's for a client, and boy does it chew up the system resources big time, min req is really 512mb of memory and even then it can still feel sluggish.
Personally I'd run AVG Free for free instead for home use.

Some of us wish to use something that actually works.
