I just installed Panda Antivirus Titinium 2005, and when everything is on from that program it gives me 100% Cpu usage, when i turn it off, I get 0-15% Cpu usage( it jumps from those percentages) I alos only had 31 processes runnning and now I have 41 processes running, why does Panda need that much processes?

PS: Is it normal for my Cpu to run at 40c/100F ??
My computer specs are in my sig

Same thing happened for me with AntiVIR - could not play DVDs as a result.

Uninstalled and off my system now...back to normal ;)

If just JUST NOW installed it, Panda is most likely running a complete system scan in the background. It's going to hog your cpu for awhile.

If it's been a few days, then go into the realtime settings and change it to only scan Specified Extensions. Reduce or turn off Heuristics.

Its been one day, but I already did 2 full system scans manually with it already. I unhave Heuristics unchecked but it is still using 100% usage

People... like, Panda defenetly sucks. Heavy and unreliable.

I'd suggest BitDefender. Works incredibly well, detecting virus that not even McAfee or Norton could, or if they did, couldn't remove.

http://www.bitdefender.com

Highly recomended.

I've installed several iterations of Panda program. Only once did I also get 100% cpu usage after an install.

I uninstalled it and I installed another version of Panda...I forget which one (Platinum or Titanium), and that fixed the issue.

I would contact Panda tech support to see what they can do.

Overall, I'm very happy with the program. The antivirus picked up things Norton didn't. Also the firewall works great!

Have patience and work through this issue as it's easily one of the best programs out there of its kind.

Panda is crap. Trust me, I've done plenty of research on at least a dozen different antivirus apps.

Bitdefender came out as #1 for me, in every aspect.

Panda is a great application for most people (I have 2004 though). Personally it's a bit too resource heavy for a gaming PC, but it's great for parents and such because it's very user friendly and automated.

I'm currently using NOD32 on my gaming PC. It uses one process and it's fairly thin compared to Panda's multiple processes. If you have 100% CPU use then you have another issue. Panda, with a proper install, will most certainly not to that.

Is that a different tune that you're playing since this post a year ago?

"UPDATE 2/18:
I bought Panda Titanium Antivirus 2004. Bitdefender had a serious bug where its autoprotect would just stop. Not good. So Panda wins! By the way, you can get Panda Platinum 7.0 for FREE if you're an IT professional. CHECK IT OUT! "

I'm just curious if you changed your mind after all your research because of a bad experience over the past year of using Panda Antivirus?

I'm not rippin on ya, cause I want to find a good antivirus since my old AVG ver6 Free Version is not supported now and the version 7 really mucked up my system.

Simply because Panda doesn't work for you doesn't mean that we should trust your opinion. I'd rather put my trust in someone who has access to all antivirus software and repairs systems for a living. Hey guess what, I happen to fit that description. :)

Panda is far from crap......

One must realize that software issues will happen to everyone at one point or another, and no software is perfect. Panda is one of the top Antivirus companies IMHO and it's what I use on all of my personal systems. I have zero issues with it being a resource hog, nor does it cause any conflicts.

Panda Platinum 7 is free for 1 year

When Antivirus Program actually Run and scan your hard drive they do take 100% CPU resource.

However I have right now in front of me AntiVir in the Regular Active Guard Mode and it takes less than 1% CPU resource.

Two processes residing in RAM consume 10MB.

Well, I repair computers for a living, and I recomend BitDefender above anything else. Not as heavy, much more effective than you could possibly imagine.

BitDefender 8 still uses the 7.0x engine, son geting the Free Version doesnt make you lag behind in such aspect. Its quite light and, well, I have a cafe in wich all of my machines have it installed.

Good luck.

Are you comfortable with BitDefender free edition not having realtime scanning?

That's where the scheduler kicks in. Program a scan on the Windows and My Documents folders every three days and you are most likely to have a perfectly non-infected computer that works with minimum resources.

If, however, real-time scanning is a must, then paying less than 20usd for the full BitDefender 8 version is quite the bargain.

Ok, I just uninstalled Panda and installed Bitdefender 8 Standerd, I did a full system scan and found no new viruses. My Cpu Usage is back to normal, I do miss Panda's easy and sleek interface tho. Oh yea, its the full version of Bitdefender 8, I got it for free at my job, Office Max . Do you guys like Bitdefender?? I heard it has a high detection rate.

I like Panda but uninstalled too. Bitdefender is good but installer has "Brige" virus.First I can't understand what happend and thought smth with Windows . I went to "Bitdefender"
site and there was a warning about it. I tested system with Norton and McAfee and both found "Bridge" virus in "Bitdefender install.exe"

thats odd, did you download the install from the officail site?? Before I uninstalled panda I scaned the bitdefender install and found no viruses on it. And Panda found the bridge virus before so it should have found it.

Panda Platinum 7 has been a wonderful free (promo for IT) AV and it's effectiveness, low resource usage, and friendly GUI was a real treat. My subscription was good for another 6 months, but I had received the Titanium 2005 at the office and wanted to check it out. I decided to remove my old version and install the new. Upon installation I get a few errors about random files, but it finishes the install and prompts me to reboot. I go to safe mode to uninstall it and it will not uninstall, so I try to manually clean the registry and delete the directories but certain files are locked down. Rebooting to normal mode results in random reboots and BSOD's, so instead of breaking out ERD Commander I just reboot a few more times and finally make it to the logon screen. I then try installing it over itself.....no good. Arggggggggggh!

Up to this point my fresh install of windows is now mucked up and I am pissed. I back up my data and do a fresh install of XP SP2 (again), install the drivers, and decide to try Panda Titanium 2005 again......guess what....same issues as before.

Maybe I just got a bad cd (unlikely) or all of the install/uninstall horror stories I've read over the last 6 months aren't myths.

Needless to say I had to reinstall the OS again (thank goodness I have a fast system) and this time I've installed AntiVir.

Ha, I had nearly the EXACT same problem! It will NOT uninstall cleanly, I had to reformat my system too. I was testing it out for our firm, and I basically had to tell the sales rep that I tried it on 3 different machines - 2k/xp/2kserver - and each had a horrible problem. One was giving me c++ exception errors on runtime! I can't believe they're actually sell this stuff. Someone in the programming department screwed up bad.
