Panasonic unveils dual-layer HD-DVD burner

So what you're saying is that in six months this will be $99.99 at newegg?

Hot diggity! I'm saving up starting TODAY!!!

$2500 means the prices are coming down.
The Blu-Ray recorders are $4000 in Japan.

If you really want to record HDTV now, you can buy a DVHS deck. I picked up a refurb JVC HM-DH30000U for $300 and record off Comcast over Firewire from the box.

Does anyone know how much this might be from Newegg? In six months?
I emailed newegg. I'll post as soon as they respond.

NE just replied to my email, they said it would be $2700 initially, but it would rapidly fall to $99 within six months.

Oh man I never knew that my post would go this well.

I don't know anyone who could afford to spend $69 for 4.5 hours of recording time. I'll stick to the $1 VHS that can record over and over again. I can deal with lower resolution for now.

Some people want ferraris, some want Ford Escorts.

Some people want to wait 6 months for the price at newegg to drop to $99.
