I'm seriously contemplating this unit for my bedroom display. I have also been looking at the consumer version TH42PX75U, as well as the Philips 42PFL7422D 1080p LCD.
I've determined that a 42" display will be optimal for my bedroom. It will be mounted on the wall on an existing swivel arm mount. Viewing distance will be normally ~8.5'.
I have a comcast HD box and an HTPC for sources, as well as a PS3 for BluRay Movies and Gaming.
I've been researching my purchase for a little bit, and was all set to pull the trigger on the Philips 1080p LCD (non ambient light model), however, I am now leaning a bit toward the Commercial Panasonic Plasma display.
Here are my thoughts;
* 720p ~ 1080p @ 8.5' viewing distance
* Burn in is simply not an issue with the Panasonic Plasma (I've been using a CRT based RPTV for several years now driven with an HTPC/HD cable Box, and now PS3 with No burn in issues whatsoever)
* I LOVE the simple design and narrow bezel on the commercial display.
* The commercial display has more advanced control over the PQ and dislay than the consumer unit.
* It is a rugged unit favored in commercial/pro applications for continuous display.
* It has an outstanding PQ and great black levels, perhaps just short of the Pioneer Plasmas.
Concerns;
* Mounting. It's a light Plasma (57lbs) I'd like to use my existing Articulating mount from my LCD which is supposed to be good to 80lbs, but its going to need some sort of adaptor plate. I can't seem to tell what vesa standard it uses for mounting, so I'm stuck trying to figure out if I can adapt my current LCD mount.
*Display Format options for HD sources.
anyone familiar with these displays, particularly mounting?
