I've got one friend telling me that the Panasonic is nowhere near the Wega, and another one saying it's almost the same tv, and the Panasonic looks even better in the 27" and under range. I know some of you technophiles out there can set me straight on this. So which should I go for... Tau or Wega?

Thanks to everyone for the help.

I know an excellent A/V dealer who specializes in only high end electronics and they could tell you the pro's and con's for both TV's. It's a long distance call, but they'll give you EXCELLENT advice for free just don't tell them that you're calling from AL.

If you are interested in their name and phone number PM me, please have both model numbers ready before calling them as Panasonic and Sony both make several 27" units and they need to know the specific model numbers.

The Wega has 16:9 compression, that's reason enough alone for me to recommend it.

Anamorphic DVD looks damn good using the component inputs.

not sure of the wegas inputs.. but.. the tau has quite a few.. one component, a few composite, and 2 s-video.. including a nice panel on the front.

personally i thought that the tau looked better, so i got a 27 incher... a tiny tiny bit smaller too i believe.. not 100% tho
