Just purchased this last week for an awesome price on amazon. Talk about a let down.... I'm not happy at all with this TV's picture quality.

-Greens are overly saturated despite following calibration guides on AVS forum.
-Picture looks too soft and bland.
-A lot of weird pixelation on whites.

I have tried all week to adjust this damn thing. Trying to neutralize the green push on this set is just a damn nightmare.

Anyone here happen to own this model? Any suggestions to help me improve the PQ before I return this thing would be great.

yeah...panny plasmas have been dropping price (especially the s2 series). Best buy has been selling the 42 inch version at a low $650 price tag. Seems like lots of people just do not want this TV.

TBH i don't know what you can do there have been lots of complaints about the S2 being worse then the S1. Id just return it. That being said the 50 inch S1 costs more according to amazon. It actually costs more then the G25 :/ G series has its own set of issues

you might want to look into a samsung plasma

What source are you viewing? When you use the avsforum settings, are you sure you have it on the right picture setting (user, cinema, standard, etc.)?

Yeah I have it set to cinema for Bluray/Video games. Cinema is too dark for normal TV watching during the day so I have it set to custom.

Since I made this post I have been able to lessen the greens, but they are still an eye sore. I'm just going to return it to Amazon :(

holy.....are they having that much trouble unloading these....

no its most likely because they are going to announce a replacement

The G20/25 is dropping like a rock also because they announced the GT25s which are the same but with 3D

50in G20/25 is less then a grand on amazon right now

I have been interested in the G25 series for the last couple of weeks. Been watching the 50" and seen price ranges between $1.0-1.1k, and the other day saw it hit $999, which is a pretty sick deal. The other day I went into Best Buy to see what it looked like in person, and they had the 50" G25 right next to the 65" S2. One of the sales guys there trying to make the sale couldn't get the G25 out of some stupid demo mode it was playing but told me the picture was like the S2's. Maybe it was the size difference on the 65" that impressed me more, but I felt like I have better picture on my 3 year old Samsung 71f LCD...and I'm not inclined to believe a BBY guy who probably knows no more about the TV than me.

OP I've heard also that the picture starts looking better after a break-in period of ~100 hours. Maybe it needs a little bit more time?

Yeah, I've read that on the AVS forums as well, THX mode is the way to go apparently. My boss has the 54G25 and loves it. I can't help but think I want something larger now that I saw how puny the 65S2 makes the 50/54G25's look...Just makes my decision that much more difficult. I wish the G25 came in 58" variety...that'd probably be perfect.

Zepp,

I ended up returning mine after spending days trying to calibrate it. I am pretty bummed since $898 for a 50" with 1080p is such a steal. I just couldn't dial out the oversaturate greens. Plus it had this nasty fuzziness that really ruined the PQ.

If you want to go with a Panasonic, stay away from the S2 model. G25/V25 offer the best picture, better anti-glare screen, more options for calibration, and doesn't suffer from the same problems that the S2 has.
