Buy.com Clearance has a Panasonic printer for $169.95. Shipping for me was $12.15. After a $30/150 coupon it comes out to $152.10. Did a price check on shopper.com, Overstock.com has it for $219, most of the other sites have it ~$330. 95 left as of posting

Anyone know if it's any good? I'm still kicking myself for passing on the SuperScript 870 DOTD

Uses toner part # KXP458

This model was discontinued long time ago, I am not too sure if you still can find toner catridge for them.

Yeah, that sucks. If you buy this printer you might want to stock up on toner. It's relatively cheap ($20-30 for 2000-page cartridge) but I bet it's discontinued

Huh. Funny this should come up. I happen to have a closet with three or four boxes of the toner (my printer died), should anyone want to buy them let me know. :)

I have an old Panasonic KX-P4400. I bought it at least 4 years ago. It is still my workhorse printer at home. For color I use a new Epson inkjet printer. I have no problem finding the toner and drum for this old printer. Check it out before giving up the good buy.

Does not look like it is discontinued according to panasonic's page here. On the other hand the feature set is not all the impresive. And yet again, its tough to beat it for the price.

hmm... what to do what to do

I have one of these....no problem finding Toner. Either OM or OD still carries them....not to mention a number of on-line stores.

We bought an Epson laser several years ago (for our 486:) ), and buying toner for it would cost 150 dollars, as it is just starting to run out now.

check pricegrabber.com, the same printer sells for twice as much anywhere else..
and the specs are OK for home use. :)

I'll get one for myself. Thanks for the post, been sick of my old inkjet for quite a while.

Like Thyme I've been getting along with one of those Epsons too
(AL 1500) but even decent remfd cartridges are getting rare and expensive. It seems like this happens with any brand but HP. However one might do it or then again there is that new Samsung 4500 model which now goes for $ 180 street...so far.

I have used the KX-P6100 for several years - a true workhorse!! Much cheaper to use than the Epson Color 860 I recently purchased.

I was considering getting the PagePro a month ago but price was my #1 factor. Toner for the Pagepro costs about $80 for a 3000-page yield, but only about $20 for a 2000-yield cartridge for the Panasonic. So far the Panasonic's been pretty good. It prints sharp looking text and figures even at the 300 dpi setting, and I rarely print photos or in color so it fits my needs. I've read that the KX-P6500 will take standard SIMMs, but haven't confirmed this. Maybe another owner could let us know.
