Looking into buying this unit, does anyone know if it reads cd-rs?
It says it can't read them, but i heard some cd-rs can be read, this would be really useful for vcds since i can use my burner to co..err...backup vcds

I checked at VCDhelp.com, and there's 2 reviews. One says it works with a VCD burned in Nero at 4X, and the other says it doesn't work with anything. I suggest you save yourself a headache and get a Pioneer 333. I have one and it works great with any kind of media, cdr and cdrw. I can play VCD up to 2500kbit/s and even SVCD. It's also pretty cheap.

yeah, but i hear the pioneer craps out after awhile from audioreview.com

I was comparison shopping between the toshiba s1600 (i think), the sony sv360 & the panasonic.

I thought i'd go with the pioneer but after those reviews but i think i'll wait on march 25th when the dvd-rv31 comes out

it's silver and is designed to play them

first time I hear about Pioneers failing more than others. I wouldn't trust everything I read on Audioreview, it's kind of a free for all. Anyways, don't get the Toshiba or the Sony if you want to use burned CDs. The DV31 looks cool.
