Panasonic DMR-ES25S DVD Recorder $120 at the Egg

This basic progressive scan DVD recorder has HDMI and an SD card slot. It is well rated by CNET and Consumer Reports, but some people on the web complain that it is a bit fussy in actual operation. I have had good succes with Panasonic products, so I bit -- shipping is about $10.00.

I am pretty sure that this is being replaced by a newer model, thus the good price.

That is why I mentioned that some people thought it a bit fussy, but realize that there are only 3 reviews on the Egg, which is a pretty thin data set. There were some complaints on the personal reviews on CNET, and the general CNET review said it could be picky about playing some "home brew" DVDs. Overall CNET still liked it. On Amazon there are 49 reviews and it averages out to four stars.

Anyhow, I'll find out in a few days. 😉
