Does anyone have any experience with this thing?

The reviews look positive. but does anyone own one? thoughts?

I am in the market for something like an S230 (hard to find now) but I can get a decent deal on this Panasonic...

whats everyone think?

linky

thanks!

I helped my friend's parents buy this for $169 and they love it.

Of course I'd recommend a Canon or Fuji 2650 but this seems to be a good solid digicam.

Unfortunately reviews for this model are sparse.

$169!!!!!!????

they are selling here (retail) for $499 Canadian... (I can get for low 400-ish range)
where on earth can you get those kinds of prices??

Well it was on sale, price matched it against another vendor, used a coupon and ebates toss in with free shipping = $169 🙂

I think you'd be better of with established camera company.
Panasonic is not known for it's camera. Their quality is kinda low. They are exception I think (such as FZ1) but those are rare.
Check out ebay, nobody wants to buy them.
Get Canon S230, you won't be sorry.

I don't think Panasonic's quality is low really.. that camera I was looking at is honestly really nice... I know I can't go wrong with a Canon S230 but I can't freaking buy them anywhere around here... sold out everywhere... I'd rather buy locally is my problem.

I know someone who works for Panasonic. Discounts galore - I'm talking more than 40% off regular MSRP. 🙂 But to be honest I haven't bought a Panasonic Digicam and I actually have a S200. Panasonic cameras tend to underexpose low light conditions resulting in bad shots. Go with Canon. Although I should really be helping keep my friend's job intact by recommending Panasonic anyways. 🙂
