Panasonic Cordless Phone Dying? Say It Ain't So...

I've had this Panasonic cordless phone for over five years and I think it's dying. The keypad, specifically numbers 4, 7, and 8 barely respond. I now have to push quite hard to get them to work, often causing me to misdial. I've tried opening the phone, but failed.

I've used this phone so much I've gone through two batteries and worn off nearly all the decals. Even the phone's surface is smooth as all the texture has long since worn away.

Is their a simple fix to this issue, or should I simply junk my beloved cordless and buy another?

Have someone who knows what they're doing open the phone and clean off the contacts.

It's not that hard to disassemble something like that.
