Panasonic 8x cdrw is having problem

hi, My friend has a Panasonic 8x4x32x cdrw drive.... is having problem....

a month ago, he can still burn audio cd for his car but a week ago, just after infrected with msblast.exe now it is fixed, he can't burn any successful audio cd.

he uses NeroBurn Rom version 5.9.11.0( seomthing like that).

when he pressed the write cd button, everything turned into slow motion including windows(winxp)

he used to have winamp playing mp3 in the background, but now the mp3 is chopped/choppy. the song can play for 1 second and then stop for 20 seconds.

same as the software. (there is a NOt responding wording on the title bar of nero), the process to burn the songs onto the cd is very choppy. I can see that the software is reading for 1 seconds and then stop for 20 seconds. therefore bad burns are created.

soo... is my friends cdrw dead? or damaged by msblast.exe or anything else?

thanks

if u know, please help

oh, i just upgraded to nero 6, problem remains.

status is idle in nero.
status in task manager(ctrl alt del) is no response.

Try these things:

[*] Reinstall ASPI manager. You can get the latest ASPI drivers here
[*] Make sure DMA is enabled on your drives. Depending on your OS, there are a couple ways to do this. In 9x you have to go to the specific drive in device manager and check to make sure DMA is enabled. In 2k/XP, you have to check the properties of the ide controllers and verify that the different controllers are set to "DMA if available."

If those don't work, try the drive in another computer. If it works there, you may have to reload the OS altogether. If not, the drive may be dead.

i've tried the way u've mentioned, but no luck again.

recently i just moved, so will vibration killed my drive?
