Panasonic 60" TC-P60VT60 coming in, what should I check for?

TV is coming in this week, and I'm wondering if I need to check for anything?

I haven't bought a TV since 2006 and that was an LCD so all I did then was hook my laptop up and flash a bunch of LCD test images to test for dead pixels.

Should I check anything with a Plasma TV? I know some people get super picky with their TVs/monitors/panels in general and specifically for LCD panels will check for ghosting, backlight bleed, etc.

make sure its not cracked (that can happen) and that it turns on and works. i really didnt do anything besides that

also I have one its heavy and the box is fing massive. make sure stand is OK as well, when i got mine one of the corners was a little dented.

Have a flash drive ready with JPG slides of complete white, black, red, blue, and green slides. You can use this to check for lines/dead spots. Make sure you have a flashlight if you're not in a bright room to check for physical damage (cracks in plastic casing, etc)

Get them to install it on the stand if possible. That way they are responsible for any damage while moving it.

All of this.

Congrats on the new TV! That one is a monster!!!

It doesn't support PNG files?

Anyone have a good source for images or just open up GIMP and make them myself? (I too have a VT60 arriving in a couple days (only the 55", but that is all that will fit)).

You can follow the entire guide, or you can do whatever, but there are ready-made slides right there.

FWIW, I used those slides for over 100 hours, and then input all of his reference settings for the P50ST60, and it's an absolutely marvelous.

I'm absolutely jealous of the VT60 and ZT60 models, which have an insane panel that only gets to live our one year in production. Too bad I couldn't afford more at the time, and certainly cannot afford to get the absolute best models before they're impossible to find, but thankfully, this ST60 ain't too shabby itself. Due to cost, most reviewers actually put it ahead of other PDPs. You get a for sure improvement stepping up, which I'd love to do, but the cost is a significant step up.

TBH you may noet even want to bother with slides and settings from the interwebs
the THX mode on the VT60 by default is extreamly close to the settings that Dnice privides for those running the break in slides. Someone did the compairison on AVS and id bet 95% of people would not notice the difference
