Panasonic 42px60u hdtv question

obviously 4:3 analog signals can be displayed at 4:3, or scaled with Zoom, center-justified, and Full modes.

However, I think the manual said that widescreen signals will be "locked" into 1 aspect... and its true on my sister's px50u

however, im watching my first HD signal (american idol OTA), and the show says that its widescreen HD, and the tv info display shows that its 720p, and it looks good.... except the tv allows me to use all these modes. is it supposed to do this?

yes, you can change the aspect on HD.

If it allows you to switch then that's the way it works for your TV.

stupid question , i know, but this was my first time watching hd content on the tv

i was confused because i was watching various dvd through an upconverting player and the behavior was all funny like....
