great deal - you may want to state that the phone is reconditioned...
Panasonic makes the best cordless phones...

Nice phone---has speakerphone on the base station, and ---not sure---it may have a separate speakerphone on the handset, which I find very useful. No caller ID, though (sniff).

Don't know how "hot" this deal is - but they have another phone - also reconditioned with caller id/speakerphone etc..

As shown here...

Not trying to hijack the thread - just thought it was a relevant link - and I only found it because of the original post! Thanks again to the OP.

Anyone have experience with these phones? The reviews on Amazon range from excellent to very poor.

On Amazon, generally the excellent 'reviewers' don't give their names.... just say 'a reader from XXXX, YY' or 'a HAPPY user from Blah, Blah'.... I do not trust those who give all 5 stars there, sounds phoney company propoganda to me.

I had a slightly different 2.4ghz model from Panasonic, and had quite a few problems with it (the final one being when the handset and the base refused to communicate with each other anymore, thus making the phone useless).

I had an older 2.4ghz phone from Panasonic as well which I never really had a problem with (the range wasn't that good though).

So, it's probably a crapshoot like anything else I guess.

Same story here, they just crapped out on me. I wouln't buy recon'd of these. I did like the sound quality though. Sound quality is more important than range to me.

My boss has this model as her work phone. Brand new out of the box and it's the biggest POS I've ever used whenever I have to take calls for her when she's out to lunch. Could just be a fluke with her phone though, so it's up to you if you want to take the chance.

Careful... had one of these and all it did was screw up the 802.11b/g network I had running. Panasonic 2.4s are notorius for this. Switched over to V-Techs of both the 5.8 and 2.4Ghz flavor and not a hiccup.

So - if you have a wireless network, look elsewhere.

It's not just Panasonic 2.4 GHz... I used to haev panasonic 2.4 and it interfered 100% with the Wireless, and now I have the RadioShack, and even that has major problems with my network...

I am pleased to hear 5.8 is doing good. I just wonder if it fries brains faster..

Panasonic phones suck now. We had one forever in my house and it fantastic, not a problem.

However, my father's Panasonic, mine, and my mother's keypads all crapped out on us.

Not thread crapping just a heads up :/

Panasonics are indeed notorious for WIFI problems.

Their most advanced 2.4 ghz line starting with KX-TGA270s have no problems with wirelessm, but the HUGE caveat is that they use Nicad batteries!!:Q :Q :Q As expected, users have TROUNCED this Panasonic line for really, really crappy battery life. See amazon.com reviews on this issue.

The Vtech 5.8 ghz high end stuff is acclaimed for NOT messing up the wireless. An all out great product. I was biased against Vtech, but seems they really nailed it here with this product. I really like the speaker phone feature on the handset. Can be purchased for $139 @ Amazon.

The Uniden 5.8 ghz high end stuff also messes up the wireless. I was really upset at Uniden. They generally have great phones at sensible prices, yet alas, the 5.8 ghz model knocked my wireless off kilter. It is the only 5.8 ghz phone that transmits both ways at 5.8 ghz. The other competitors transmit 5.8 ghz one way and 2.4 ghz the other way.

Alas, for wireless, go with a Uniden digital spread spectrum 900 mhz, Vtechs 5.8 ghz, or hard-line :Q .

I still use a pretty old panasonic 2.4 ghz (from value america) and i've always hated it because of the sound quality and funky behavior. So what's the most recommended brand these days? You guys are saying that VTech and Uniden are actually good?

Most Uniden 900 mhz and 2.4 ghz digital models are always rated great (from users & professional reviews) and are rock solid reliable.

Siemens is another good 2.4 ghz option. However, there are reports that these phones die out after a year or two.

All 5.8 ghz brand names/models are buggy and have issues. MAJOR issues. The only saving grace seems to be the Vtech 5.8 ghz.

About Vtech...

I have one 900 Mhz Vtech with speakerphone one the handset. It has been an incredible phone for about 5 years now. It now takes a few nudges on the base before it will start charging.

My second 900 Mhz Vtech has a digital answering machine which rocks. But I cannot hear crap on the phone so that part is pretty useless.

Why can't cordless phone and cell phone manufacturers get it right?!?

Do not get this model as shown on the link. I have problem with the phone battery drain after 1 or 2 days used. It is a common problem as I read the reviews from other forum. I would advise to do stay away from it.
