Panasonic 1743B 900Mhz Phone $31.50 at Staples B&M only

Price tag was $89, but rang up at $31.50. (B&M only)

900Mhz digital cordless phone with call ID, call waiting, answering system, and speaker phone.

-----> SKU 471603 <------

Sounds like a great deal. I can't tell you the number of times that my Panasonic cordless handset has hit the floor. Each time, I pick it back up, put the battery cover back on - and it's ready to use once again. Panasonic seems to build these things like tanks. Each of the Bell phones that I've owned - AT&T, Southwestern Bell and Northwestern Bell have only seemed to last about 1 year before dying -- right after the warranty expires. However, my Panasonic phones keep on rolling along. 🙂

It's a closeout deal, so YMMV at the B&M. My local Staples seems to never have these closeout products by the time I find out about them.

i agress with WJE!!!! Panasonic makes GOOD LONG LASTING cordless phones!!!! Like WJE i too drop them and pick it up, put battery cover, and use it again.

Dropping them on the floor won't harm them but dropping them in water will 😱. I'll keep an eye out for this...need a new cordless phone. 🙂

Panasonic and Uniden phones rock. I prefer both of their DSS 900mhz phones cuz they don't screw with my wireless network 🙂

I wasn't aware that 2.4Ghz screwed with the 900Mhz phones...interesting...

Just wanted to add that this phone is basically the same one as the Circuit City black friday Panasonic 1503B going for $29.99... except that your Staples one has speakerphone (important to me). I'm looking for this one first thing tomorrow. Thanks!

How bad is the interference when using a 2.4 Ghz phone when you have a wireless network on the same frequency or vice versa.

It varies. I've had several 802.11b access points and several 2.4ghz cordless phones. No problems to report, but YYMV as always.

Also be aware that BlueTooth, Cordless telephones (2.4ghz), and 802.11b (11mbs) all operate in the 2.4ghz range.

As quoted from a online report: "The FCC limited 2.4GHz spectrum devices to the narrow bandwidth range variance between 2.40GHz and 2.4835GHz. "

My $.02

Oh, on the contraire, my fellow AT'er 😉

I had an old old white panasonic cordless phone, before the 900 Mhz days... I'm talking 2 channel days 😛
Dropped it in a bucket of water, COMPLETELY submerged.
I let it dry for a couple of hours, and amazingly it still worked.
It's only problem was it didn't ring sometimes (I would let the other phones around the house notify me of a call), but you could still converse through it.
Used it for another 3 years until I junked it.
Panasonic makes great phones 😀

On a side note, I bought this one for my uncle for $70 so this is definitely a hot deal!

These $31.50 phones are all gone from my local Staples. Looks like I'm keeping Circuit City's Panasonic 1503W for $29.99 (PM on BF) - which don't got speaker 🙁

LOL...Oh, I did that too...I lost some quality in the ring sound but it could still faintly be heard. It's pretty much falling apart now though, people are getting cut off in the middle of a conversation. 🙁 I want this phone!!! Checked a couple of Staples in New York and they were sold out. 🙁

It doesn't 🙂 but 2.4ghz phones have a tendency to mess with 802.11b networks. All variety of 900mhz phones (regular, digital, digital spread-spectrum) shouldn't interfere at all.

It wasn't from Staples, but I snagged a nice Panasonic 900mhz DSS w/ caller-id on super-o clearance at Target a few weeks back for $21.44. It even has built-in speakerphone on the handset! It rang up at 0.00, and the guy asked me what I thought it was worth, and I said "around $20".

Thanks for the SKU. You got both nice deals... I was too late for the Phonemate also... having a Staples search the LI, NY area with the Panasonic SKU as we speak.

EDIT>>> Only store in LI, NY area with some showing as in-stock is the North Babylon one, if anyone here is close enough... I'm going to pass. Call the specific store before you go.
