Panaflos dont have RPM monitoring?

Sidewinder said that those 120mm panaflos don't support RPM data? sniff sniff, then I might as well get a crappy fan controller then huh? Or are there other better 120mm fans?

Some do. Panaflos with model numbers ending in -B or -BX support RPM monitoring, those that end in -A don't. I think that's how it works, at least.

Yeah, you rarely find Panaflos with the speed sensor because the few that seem to make it here are snapped up so quickly. The JMC Datech at bgmicro.com is an excellent fan but you will need a controller as it is capable of quite a few CFM and/or dBs as full cry. Just use a controller - it can be reasonably quiet. You will also need to re-wire the connector as it it a non-standard connector. You can use a standard 3-pin fan extension (the type with exposed pins like the one jab-tech.com sells) to hook it to the fan controller as the supplied cord length is very short and the connector is non-standard .

I had a Panaflo 92mm fan for my XP-90 before I switched to water, and when I tried to monitor that SpeedFan spit out some weird numbers (like 5,814,461rpm). But you can still change the speed though (at least with SpeedFan you can), you just need to use percentages instead of RPMs. 80% was perfect.

Hi!!
I have a Panaflo 120mm U1A and a 92mm BX.
The 120mm fan cannot monitor its RPM, however the 92mm fan can do it.
Although the 120mm fan does not monitor its speed I do control it perfectly using a 3 pin fantail and SpeedFan 4.24. You can adjust its speed in percentage. Also with SpeedFan you can set a range of speeds for your fans depending on the temperatures, for example I have my Panaflo 120mm (CPU fan) set to work at 60% if Cpu temps are lower than 42ºc, if temps raise, the Fan will also spin faster..till 80% until temps go again lower than 42ºc. You can adjust these Min and Max values manually on the Fly (0%-100%).
Hope this helps!
Note that Panaflo fans are the very best so if you can "Panaflo" discard the others!!!!
Good luck!

frozencpu has them. Just get the BX. Why do you really need rpm sensing anyways? Just check to see that the fan is spinning and that it isnt too noisy and you are good to go!! 😀

But can you find 120-mm Panaflos with rpm monitoring? That's the question. I know that Panasonic makes the 80- and 92-mm Panaflos with rpm monitoring, but I've NEVER seen a 120mm Panaflo with it. I don't think there is such a thing.

Anyone else?

The regulars at the Silent PC Review forums, never discuss Panaflos any more. All they seem to consider are Nexus and Yate Loon models (Nexus fans are made by Yate Loon).

If there is I've never seen one sold in the US market.

The Yate Loon is a very quite fan but there are other quiet options out there.

Remember the Yate Loon is a sleeve bearing so it won't be as durable as a ball bearing or hybrid bearing (panaflo) fan. Seasonic just switched the S12 series from sleeve Yate Loon's to ball bearing based Adda's with very little increase in noise.

I'm just curious about the RPM. Sure, if its quiet enough I'll be fine.... Wait so you guys are saying I wouldn't need to get a cheap Aerogate I (4.99) and just use Speedfan software?

I have a Panaflo 92mm L1BX on my XP-90. I bought it from Jab-Tech.com and it came with a 3-pin header with rpm monitoring. My A8N-E runs it at 750-1400rpm depending upon the load.
