hi,

i got a XP1800@1900, alpha 8045 w/ Sunon80mm 2600rpm
enlight 7237 case with one slower 1.6w sunon 80mm sucking in in front, and a 2.1w 2600rpm sunon 80mm blowing out at the back.

Overall, i get ok temps (cpu 39 idle /46 load - now with the heat of course higher, up to 52C on my XP). I think the temps are fine.

However i think overall the noiselevel of the whole system could be a bit lower...

How are the Panaflos compared to the Sunons ? From the specs they look about the same (with the Panas a little bit quieter i think)..but the difference in noiselevel and airflow look almost not worth mentioning to me (except that the panas are more expensive)

Any ideas how i could maybe replace my sunon fans, having the same airflow...but get some more noise reduced ??

EDIT:

I always thought those fans blow out about 39cfm....on newegg's site they claim its 48cfm. They must be wrong..also on sunon's website the ones in question are rated 39 cfm at 32db and not 48cfm !!!

i had the 39/32 sunon and replacing all my fans with panaflows made a huge difference. Especially on the cpu fan.
bgmicro.com sells the panaflows cheaper than anywhere else. ~$2.99 each. Panaflows move less air, but at that price, and with their quality you cant go wrong.

These fans r good, not to expensive, and move a little more air than the panaflos at the same noise level.here

just got some today. and bg micro is out of stock on the panaflos, plus that website is a pain in the ass if u ask me.

just get a fanbus and when your PC is not under load just turn your fans down to 7V. and when you playing your favorite game, turn them back up to 12V and they should be drowned out by the noise of your speakers.. ;) That's what I did.. My Addtronics case with 7 fans. 2 intake,3 exhaust, gorb and PS, make tons of noise but with my new cheiftec I bought a fanbus to be able to turn fans down as I now have 4 case fans and a 120 in the door.

A fanbus is fairly cheap as well.

I found the sunon 80mm 1.4W fans very loud compared to the low speed 80mm panaflo's...

Same here. I just replaced a Sunon 80mm intake fan in my Antec SX1030 case with a Panaflo, and the difference is incredible. Now I just need to mod my 3Com Switch...it's the loudest thing in my lab now.

I don't think it's too fair comparing the Panaflo L1As (24cfm/21dBa) with the Sunon PTB2s (35cfm/32dBa). At least that's what I think he's got (maybe you have the PTB1 then?). I have the Sunon PTB2, and yes, it ain't quiet. It's about as loud as a Pentium III fan. Two Panaflo L1As are about as loud as a stage whisper, but obviously they push a lot less air. A better comparison would be the Panaflo H1As (rated at 39cfm/32dBa).

I'm kinda interested to, whether a H1A has a more pleasant pitch, or simply sounds quieter due to their hydrowave tech. I plan to replace that Sunon PTB3 with an H1A, so I would also like to hear some personal experiences (pardon the pun). So, bump!
