Panaflo vs Sunon?

What do you guys think of Sunon fans? How does their quality match up to Panaflos?

Also a question for Cooler Master Stacker owners. Can a 120mm x 38mm fan fit safely on the rear of the case and not be too much of an obstruction? The default fan on the rear of the case is a 120mm x 25mm.

Compared to most other fans, I swear by Sunons, they move a lot of air, are very reliable, and they aren't as (subjectively) loud as one might expect, given their ratings. (At least to me, I'm not bothered by the noise that they make in the least.) They're not "silent" by any means either though. I can't answer the other half of your question though, because I've never had the opportunity to use Panaflos. But quality-wise, I consider Sunons to be among the 1st tier, at least their ball-bearing ones.

Sunons are good, bulletproof fans, as are Panaflos. However, Sunons can't play in the same ballpark as Panaflos as far as noise goes. The lower RPM Sunons aren't too bad, but I'd still just buy some Panaflos and be done with it.

Papst...Sanyo Denki...Panflo, in that order...Papst's, PC Power & Cooling pricing has made me abandon them as my weapon of choice in the fan world.

Love the Sanyo Denki's, excellent fans for mission critical applications and Pansonic Panflo's are just a tick behind them.

So between the Sunon's or Panflo's...My recommendation is the Pansonic Panaflo's.

When you buy a Sunon, you only pay for pushing air, nothing else. Even at lower voltages and lower RPM's, Sunon's still aren't quiet as they have definite motor noise.

Well for 80mm Panaflo and Nexus are the top choices, along with Acoustifan for the super silent types. The 120mm Panaflos have a bit of a buzz to them and are not indicative of their overall quality. I would look for a Yate Loon, or a Nexus for 120mm operation.

I disagree that all Sunon's across the board are noisy at the lower rpms. I've used the KD1212PMB1-6A. It top-ends at about 3,100 rpm and 108CFM. There is a slight whine at the top-end, but a dab of teflon grease on the bearing seems to put it down.

That being said, if only because I prefer fans that have a wider range of speed and throughput over fans whose severely limited throughput is a compromise on the noise issue, Panaflo makes some good fans with respectable top-end throughput.

Except for the lack of tach-monitoring, I thought the Sunon was an extremely good buy for $8. It has an MTBF of 100,000 hours, double-ball bearing -- very sturdy.
