panaflo + slk3700amb = no fitty

I just bought a panaflo 120x38mm H1A and went to install this sexy beast into my case....only to find out that i have to make some mock setup to insert it in becuase the fan holes on the rear of my case and the ones on the fan dont match up. has anyone else had the same problem? right now its stuck into the plastic bracket thing (not clipped either since that thing was desigend for 25mm fans)

I have the same prob with the same case and fan. Options are either to mount the fan slightly off center (using bolts, have to use one normal fan hole and one smaller hole with this method) or tie-wraps. I used tie-wraps, just go through the 2 holes at each corner and through the hole in the fan, make sure its tight so it doesn't vibrate. Otherwise you'll have to drill your own holes. I recommend a sturdy bit, antec steel cases are a bitch to mod.

yea, i went back and had another look at it. the problem is that the fan holes are just way too small for the right size screw to fit through. i think i'm gonna try the drill technique, but until i go back home from school i guess electrical tape and the crappy bracket will suffice :/

The fan holes in the back of the case don't match the pattern on your Panaflo because the fan holes on the case aren't fan holes, they're holes to bolt that plastic bracket onto the case. If you don't use the bracket you'll have to drill yourself a set of holes in the proper pattern.

It's no different with the Antec SX10x0, SX8xx and 6xx cases and all the other Chieftec Dragon clones. All of them use that plastic fan mount and if you pull it off you're left with no holes to attach a fan. You have to drill them yourself.

no, there are holes there, they just arent big enough. the plastic bracket has little stubs on the side that you put the fan on so that when you stick it into the bracket, it wont move back and forth. those little stubs go out through the back too (this is where the correct 120mm pattern is) but like i said, the holes are just too small for regular fan screws to go through. i dont have access to a drill, but a friend of mine said that using nuts and bolts would work.

Unless Antec recently changed the design of the SLK3700AAMB, the hole pattern in the case doesn't match the hole pattern of a fan. The case's hole pattern is to hold the plastic fan holder and you will need to drill a new set of holes right in the middle of the existing sets. Look at this picture and you'll see. Not the blue rubber fan isolators that hold the120mm fan onto this 3700AMB. They are positioned right in the middle of the original sets of holes.
