Panaflo H1B vs. H1A

Just like the title says... I'm going to get a 92mm Panaflo high-speed for my CPU heatsink... but I've seen two different types on the different reseller sites.

Also, why do some resellers send them with bare wires? Is it just so you can choose what type of connection to use?

Here's a handy Panaflo link: common specs of entire line including how to interpret the model names. The H1B has a third lead. If the letter after that is X, e.g. H1BX, then you have an RPM-sensing one (if that matters).

Panasonic proably didn't set out with the goal of cornering the PC cooling-fan market, so the bare-wired fans are probably for the one-zillion industrial uses for 12V or 24V DC fans where they're going to solder them to a circuit board.

Thanks. I think I just found out that my 1 1/2 year old 92mm Panaflo L1A is actually an H model. Ill recheck the markings later but Im almost certain it said H.

I'd get the H1A because it'll probably be cheaper 😉. It comes with a 2-pin connector, you can plug that easily into a 3-pin slot, leaving the 3rd pin open. Just gotta "mod" the plug a little by using your mouth.

I'm telling you this because I had to do this with my Panaflo L1A.
