panaflo fan question

I bought a few Panaflo FBK-08A12M fans in this forum. Unlike my other Panaflos the 2-pin fan tails are soldered onto the fan.

Since I want to connect them to a 3-pin rheobus what are my options?

Do I buy the 2-pin to 3-pin tails available from SVC , cut and solder them or is there a better solution like some 2 pin to 3 pin adapter?

Do you know how to solder, and have spare 3-pin leads? If so, that's definitely a possibility. If you don't have the expertise or materials, go ahead and buy the leads. (SVC :cringe;)

Even if I buy the SVC leads I still have to cut and solder. My Panaflos DON'T have the connector at the fan base. The leads are soldered onto the fan. (See my 1st post for link to the pics of my type of fan).

I guess my only option is to solder.

Do you have the stuff to solder? If not, several other people do. And other people do have the stuff that you might need. Go to Performance PCs and e-mail the guy there. He's cool, and he can lead you in the right direction if you don't want to solder. If not, let me know.

thanks for your help and suggestions. I do have solder equipment available and it seems a simple enough job. I am just gonna buy a few 3 pin extensions, cut off the male connector (sounds painfull) and solder that end to the fan.

I just don't like the fact that these Panaflos did not have the snap-in connector on the fan for easy conversion.

I bet if you read the label they are Chinaflos not Japanaflos.

Japanaflos would have a plug at the fan hub.

They say made in Japan; well at least the label is made in Japan not sure about the actual fan ;) . I wonder if these are knock-offs?

If these things are too loud at 12V I'm gonna be upset after all this trouble.

They should be nice'n quiet.

I gave up on 80mm, I'm a modding mother........Everything gets fitted with 92s.

I modded my PSU for an external 92 with an addapter. Works=Lots of air w/low noise.

I hear ya. I have a couple 120 Nexus and Sanyo Denkie (sp) fans ready for install along with my Sunbeam Rheobus. I appreciate how you can undervolt to OFF with that controller even though I have to cover the LEDs since they are blinding.

rise, in the OP, RKS linked a 80mm BB Pan made in Japan.

From hands on experiance, the Japanaflo 92x25 M-BX at SVC for $4, 48cfm @ 30dBA,
is the sweetest 92mm fan I have ever used. VG fan. I do not care for the Pan 120x38
fans I have in 83 or 114cfm types. The Sanyo Denki 120x38 at 103cfm is much better.

RKS, http://www.silentpcreview.com/article84-page3.html = one type of fix for the bright
LEDs. They can be given several coats of dark nail polish also.

Since I modded my Sunbeam to a stock Lian Li bay cover the LED holes were drilled smaller
and 3mm LEDs installed.
allelectronics.com has 3mm LEDs that go from red to green. The light they produce is subdude=pleasent.

I would assume (We know what that means ;) ) that the K indicates ball bearings as that
what RKS has linked.
On the enlarged image of the two you linked, the first says Japan, the second China.
For detailed info on what the part#s mean go to NMB Panaflo's site.
There was some discussion about two months ago about the differance between Japanaflo
Vs Chinaflo. If you search this forum I'm sure it will come up.

Thanks, I may try some nail polish first.
