The place i am thinking of ordering from is out of L1A's consistently and i dont have time to snatch one up. Is the 12L the same thing as the L1A only i doont have to do a pin mod to make it a 3 pin connector. Or is there something else different about it?

I emaied them and they said it will be a while untill they get more in stock, so I ordered their brand fan.

For Panaflows I think it would be best go compare Panasonic specs for the fans. It seems that they specs are usually correct.
 
I have seen people advertise 12L and L1A. The 12L is the 12Volt version (vs 24volt) and the model is an L model. The L1A talks about a specific model number and is the last 3 characters on that model number. One of the things I have noticed is that sometimes when folks say 12L, they are talking about the old ball bearing based version of these fans, however when they say L1A they are talking about a specific model which is based on the Hydro Wave technology (longer life, quieter, etc) version. So if the advertise 12L, just make sure that they are the newer version of the fan.

Also, with regards to the connector, some sell with 3 pin with sensor, 3 pin w/o sensor, 4 pin molex, bare wire leads, or even no wire and you have to buy your own pig-tail wire. This has nothing to do with the model numbers.

I understand you are confused

Somehow people started to call the 12L fans L1A fans, but they are the same.

The 12L fans use 0.1 Ampere, which is is shown on the label as 0.1A

Connecting those 2 you get 12L 0.1A or L1A for short.

It took me a while too before I found this out. Crazy Yanks!
