All the networks are trying to do 60's shows because of Mad Men. They all are getting cancelled in four weeks either way. Pan Am, Playboy Club.

Neither will get axed that quickly, but I'd be surprised if Playboy Club lasts a full season. Their premiere ratings were pretty weak. We'll see how Pan Am goes. I think they have a much better chance of surviving based on name alone. "Playboy Club" is too titillating for middle America and the people hoping for something dirty will be disappointed. Pan Am could make it on network TV, Playboy Club would have needed to be on Showtime or HBO in order to find the right audience.

Kinda watched it... on mute. Production looks good. Story on the surface looks like a "wow, bang a passenger a week" thing going for it?

oh, Playboy Club was already on? lol. that did look way worse than Pan Am.

I may try to watch this tomorrow. who knows...

I wish. It was the most glamourous airline at the time.

Hence the reason they went out of business. Times were good when airlines were regulated... they could piss money like no tomorrow. Of course if that lavishness doesn't end with deregulation... your company will be a footnote in history. Then you have the Lockerbie bombing finishing them off.

The Pan Am name is still around and has been since they went under.

I think it's up to Pan Am 4 now, isn't it?

Something like that. They are now a starter cargo company. One of the Pan Am's was when Carnival Air Lines (off shoot of Carnival Cruise lines) took the name. Prior to Carnival it was like a 4 jet charter operation. Pan Am only in name. There is a Pan Am academy in Miami but they are basically a flight school for all airlines.

Just saw it. Kinda slow at first but picked up... a little. Suppose it could turn into something interesting. Kinda funny the first episode is called "Pilot" (like most shows) but this show actually has pilots in it.

Turned it off after 15 minutes. Trainwreck. Will likely be cancelled soon.

Ratings excellent, reviews decent, will easily last the season. Maybe you'd like it more if you get a grown-up to watch with you and explain what's happening.

Playboy Club is doomed already, weak opening and a sharp drop into week 2. They might not last even half a season.

it was full of super cheese. I wouldn't call it terrible, But I have no desire to watch it. Everything very forced, very predictable.

other than Ricci being terribly hot, in my estimation, I have little desire to keep watching that.

I gave it two segments and bailed. Superficial, predictable, boring. Like most of the crap that comprises TV now. Sigh...

Oh, and I flew on Pan Am during the 60s, and the stews looked nothing like that.
