Just saw an article that says AMD will be launching the Palomino on May 15th. Also saw on AMDZone that the 1.33 CPU's are "on allocation" (meaning limited quantity from the manufacturer). Damn, now I've got to wait a few weeks before I buy my PC!

Linkage to May 15th article

Too bad they're not launching the desktop processors that soon - some lower voltage, cooler running processors would be nice for the summer months...

But it's good there'll finally be something better than a P3 for notebooks. Yay!

Mmmm....Palomino, I'm glad I did't get caught up in that whole AXIA thing that's been going around. I wanna see what this has to offer.

With regards to the motherboards... I think what I'm hearing around here is that the biggest issue with using a Palomino is going to be voltage, and this seems to be an issue that (at least on some motherboards) can be fixed with a bios update. The newest Iwill KK266 bios allows for core voltages down to 1.1, presumably to support the Palomino and Morgan processors...

I imagine other manufactures will be doing this as well. They've still got a bit to do it.

Hey, with a really good mobile CPU on the market, maybe I can finally convince my family to get a laptop:cool: Hope they don't run too hot though... At higher speeds that may begin to be a problem again.

What do you mean by at higher speeds? If you mean 2+ GHz, I'd be happy with a little bit of extra heat at that speed. Know what I mean? :)
