I have an old palm pilot that still works well. I have loaded some info onto the memory card which I want to access on the palm. How do i do that?

What sort of data did you load on the memory card? The link below lists the software that came with the Palm TX. Is your data something that would run with it?

I have mp3 files on the card which play very well on the Palm. I've loaded some Word files on the card and the Palm can't access them. I've also tried other formats of those files, like Textedit and PDF, but the Palm doesn't seem able to read them. Any suggestions? Also, I would love to get a copy of the instruction manual for the Palm TX.

I've tried versions going back to 1997 - none work. Here is a simple (?) question. How can I take a file produced on the Palm as a Memo and copy it to the card?

I have read the manual. I followed the instructions to copy a memo from the palm to the card and nothing happened. I also put some music on the card and tried to play it in the palm, again it seems that my palm can’t see the card. Suggestions?

Did you try a different SD card? I would start with that. I hate to say it, but it's possible that the SD slot reader is bad.

I just inserted a new card. Then when I go to “card info” I’m told “no card inserted”. I then execute “format card”. Nothing happens. On the other hand, when I take out the new card and insert the old card, I get info about how much memory is being used, but nothing about what those files are. Is my palm irrevocably damaged?

No, it’s exactly the same size as the old one and it fits perfectly in the slot. The only difference is that the old one is 1GB and the new one is 32GB. Both are Sandisk.

That difference is huge! As I recall, 2GB was the max size for the Palm TX. I'm pretty sure there was a hack so you could use 4GB, but sadly my memory sucks now.

OK. I’ll try to find a card with 4 or fewer GB. But I think they are hard to find. On the other hand, I see no REAL reason to expect that a new 1GB card will do the trick. But I’ll try. Thanks.

Check Amazon. They still sell 2GB SD cards. They are still popular for cameras. You have to start eliminating items that could be the cause of your woes. The one you are using now it at least 10 years old, as Palm stopped making the TX around 2008-2009.

I’ll try Amazon. Here’s a radical suggestion. Could we arrange a phone call where you can lead me step by step through the process of copying a memo on my palm to the card - maybe I’m doing something stupid. Waddya reckon?

I have to pass on the phone call, as there is really not much else I can do. It's looking like a hardware issue at this point, and there isn't much I can do about that.

Didn't Palm. Inc went belly up shortly after smart phones came out? They wasn't any market left once they were introduced.
