Palm Zire 71 vs. iPaq 1915/1910

Hi!

I'm about to purchase a new PDA. There is two models that I seem to like - they are both cheap and pretty slim.

* Palm's Zire 71

* HP's iPaq 1915 (I think it's the same as the 1910 - just the european name)

I'll also buy a 128mb or 256mb memory card to it.

I want to listen to mp3s, and of course the usual stuff like calender etc. Maybe also watch short movies/tv-series. The camera in the Palm is nothing I really need.
Wich one would you recommend me to buy? Maybe any own experiences?

I own a HP1910 and while I'm admittedly partial to PocketPC's the Zire71 is pretty impressive coming from crappy Palm.

From what I can see the 1910 is smaller, has more memory, and more mhz (but that might not mean real world performance). The Zire has the camera. The Ipaq's screen is absolutely incredible, better than anything I've seen. I played with a Zire at FranklinCovey and its nice, but I still like the Ipaq's screen better.

I would definately suggest going to a store playing with both of them. Check out the screen and see which OS you like better. I think PPC2002 is better supported (and upgradable while the Zire's is not), but decide for yourself.
 
I've heard that Palm's new screen it good.. and with a higher resolution (320*320 vs 320*240 on Pocket PC) it couldn't be that bad 🙂 But I'm sure the iPaq have a really nice screen too. The camera is nothing I need. Right now it feels like I rather want the iPaq.. but it's more expensive heh.

The problem is that where I live we don't have any stores selling this type of stuff :/ And certainly not BOTH the Palm and the iPaq. I would love to try those IRL 🙂

I'd go with the Zire 71. I bought a Dell Axim X5 and I never used it. I started looking at Palm's because I like Palm OS better and I found the Zire 71. I got it and I love it. The screen is FAR better than the Axim (and as I understand it, the Axim has a good screen compared to most Pocket PC's). Now I'm trying to sell the Axim (though not having much luck).
