I just got a new palm vx for my birthday. I connect to com port 1 and even 2 but when I run the desktop software it wont find anything on these ports. I look in my system settings and it says that they are functioning fine. Dos this sound like a hardware problem or is the software not compatible with my windows xp? I downloaded the latest version of palm desktop software. It runs fine on my desktop, but I cant get the hotlink to work. Any ideas at all would be appreciated.
 
Check to see if the port speeds are the same on the Palm and on the computer. I remember when I had a IIIxe that they had to be the same. Also, try lowering the speed to connect at. Do you have any other com devices you could check your ports with?

check the bios to make sure thay are turned on. i know in my bios i can turn them to off, on, or auto

 
thanks guys, I had downloaded the lates version of the desktop software and it was tring to look for the palm at the usb port. I enabled to look at the com port also and it went fine. Thanks again.
