Palm Vx software problem

I installed the software for the palm Vx and it dosen't work off the icon on the monitor or in start, programs, only 1 item works there but on startup bar i can adjust somethings it's working and all ,but everytime i go to start up my computer it comes up with com 1 not available at this time also when i defragment and scan the disk and restart my computer it does not show com 1 not available ,anybody have this glitch ,my brother inlaw says the same thing !!!and i uninstalled and reinstalled the software ,anybody!!!ELSE
