Palm TX and MP3s?

I used the web browser to download an MP3 from my PC, but I noticed that the Palm Desktop doesn't show it in the Media section (even though it does show some other stuff). Where did it put the file? pTunes finds it and can play it... is there some way to send arbitrary files back and forth between the PC and the Palm? I'm storing files on the device since there's no memory card in it right now.
