My sister got one of these free as a thank-you gift, but since she's on Verizon she can't use it (it's a GSM model). Our dad's PDA (Dell Axim x30) has been pretty much dead for about a year. I got him a nice new cell phone for Christmas last year, and he keeps telling me how much he loves it (Samsung SGH-X507).

She'd like to give it to Dad to replace his PDA, my concern is that it would make his cell phone redundant. Do wireless plans allow for two phones, or can he use the Treo as a PDA only without phone capability? Help us compromise!

Of course the Treo can be used as PDA only... the wireless features can be turned off via a button on the top of the unit.

^ btw, it can also be used as an MP3 and video player too (files stored on an SD card)... still love my Treo 600.

The newer ones are more plastic-ky to save weight and have bluetooth... but I just can't get over the plastic feel.

Why not put dad's SIM card into Treo and have both a phone and PDA in one device?
