So I got a new Palm Pixi Plus to use on Page Plus. Turns out it doesn't work - just says searching in the top left and won't pull in a signal. Eventually goes to No signal message.

I only paid $35 for the Pixi Plus so not trying to go to expensive, will only be using voice, no data. I like a phone that gets good signal, has long battery, and has good voice quality. Currently using a Razr V3 (yes, the one from like 2004).

I can try to exchange it for another one and hope I get better luck (Documentation I found online says this problem occurs in 3-4% of the ones that they tested).

I say try to get another one as I got this off one of those daily deal sites and they seem to be sold out, so not sure if they'll be able to replace it.

I could always try another one from Amazon for $50.

The Kin One (or Kin Two, or the "m" versions of the phones - only used the One, personally) can be had for dirt cheap on ebay. Battery life is good with it and if you don't need apps it's actually a decent little phone.

I saw the Kin One on the same site as i got the pixi from and it doesn't appeal at all. The Kin Two doesn't either. Looks very thick. Plus reading descriptions its made for people who use social media a lot. I don't use it social media very much.

Oh my god. I can't even fathom anyone trying to use a Pixi these days. Its got to be downright worthless. You may as well buy a dumb phone if all you need to do is make phone calls on it.

PagePlus sells a couple of Android devices for $60-80. I would definitely splurge a little more. Can you switch to something with GSM coverage? The Nokia Lumia 520\521 are great.

Have you tried Craigslist for like an iPhone 4 or something? I see quite a few under $100 locally.

Swappa has some decent phones for under $100. Does PP let you activate LTE phones now? There's a Galaxy Nexus for $75, I believe.

I barely use my cell. I don't need data, and i don't need the latest and greatest, but I want something newer than the RAZR v3.. I don't want nor can i afford something expensive and $100 is expensive. I also don't want junk, the Page plus phones get poor reviews.

If you barely use your phone and don't use data then whats wrong with the V3?

On ebay you can get the Verizon Droid X2 for $50. It won't be great but you will still have smartphone options available to you if you desire in addition to the basic functions.

Its getting beat up for one...using WiFi when available would be useful.
Occasionally it would be nice to take a photo and be able to transfer it from the phone. Actually being able to see a text photo would be nice.

7.5/10 condition...wtf does that mean? I don't want a phone that's already beat to hell.
Thats decent condition for a phone thats 3 years old. It probably just has some light scratching and the like from regular use. If you don't like that I'm sure you can shop around for something better. But your options are limited on a $50 budget

The Samsung Droid Charge (basically a rebranded Galaxy S 4G LTE for Verizon's network) is also good if you can find it in your price range.
The HTC Trophy is also a good phone, one of my favorites. Very solid, good battery life, and call quality was excallent (though admittedly I didn't to comparison testing or anything). New, it's going for ~$70, but for good condition used you can find it for less than $50. I still have one that I use as an alarm clock. Windows Phone 7.X is more fluid and usable than Froyo or Gingerbread-era Android devices, in my experience.

You might be asking for too much, though, given that low price point and the requirements that it be new, relatively thin, Verizon/Page Plus compatible, and that it have good battery life and voice quality. You can reasonably pick a few of those attributes but not all unless you stumble upon a really good deal. Even looking at phones first released a few years ago doesn't necessarily give you many options.

Droid charge is 4g which won't work on page plus from what I understand. Some posts say it will work and others say no. Some say you have to performance shit ton of extra crap to get it to work.

Yeah, updated my post to add the HTC Trophy. I highly recommend it, it's 3G and should work on Page Plus, from what I understand, without any further tweaking.
You might have to search to find it new for around $50, though. Any Windows Phone 7 (or 8, if you get lucky) smartphone is going to be better than a low-end, pre-Jelly Bean Android phone with less than 1GB of RAM.

Do you *have* to stay on PagePlus?

Get a Lumia 520 brand new for $50/60 and get a paygo account on H2O/Airvoice and you're all set.

What service do they use? Verizon has the most coverage where I live, and even then its still shit coverage. Dunno what ATT is like.

The 520 is on AT&T bands, the 521 is on T-mobile.

Great phone, nothing comes close to the value.

The two I mentioned use AT&T coverage. Maybe you can ask around how AT&T is in your area.

The truth is if coverage isn't an issue, PagePlus is a crappy option nowadays, especially if you don't need much of anything (voice/txt/data). The paygo option is decent but other MVNOs have better.

Actually I meant which carrier do those services use? I couldn't find the info on their websites maybe I just didn't look at the right spot. do their minutes roll over at the end of the prepaid period? I'm not particularly stuck with PagePlus but I do have like 20 some minutes left
