I am a n00b when it comes to PDA's. I am trying to hot sync one for the first time, and when i put it in the cradle and press the hot sync button, it says:

Unable to initiate hot sync operation because port is in use by another application

What should I do?

thanks

If it's like my Tungsten T, select the HotSync icon. Make sure you select "Local" and then "Cradle/Cable". Also, start your Palm Desktop software and make sure "Local USB" is selected.

thanks

I get the same message when I try to connect to my PC using Bluetooth. To cut a long story short it was down to my MS Bluetooth Receiver. However, I was able to find that in "Other" Bluetooth installations you were able to select which port you wanted to use in the Control Panel. Now I know you don't have Bluetooth (Well asuming u don't) but it might be that your Palm is using a Port which is not the same as the one configured on your PC. Go through your setiing on both your Palm and PC and make sure the Ports Match. Sorry I can't remember where the Port settings are off the top of my head, but it's just a guess at this stage anyway. ;)
