I just got my Palm IIIXe from Staples, except the bill only had 25 dollars off, even though my CSR quoted me the 75 dollar off(stacking 3 coupons), and when I called back they refused to give me my quoted price..did this happen to anyone else?

NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

I just called Staples to make more order and get it for $125 and the CSR said that it had just come down that they could only accept one copupon prer order. Said it came down today or yesterday.

Another deal that Anandtech has destroyed. Guess I'm going to get it from Amazon now maybe.

Yeah, I called this morning and was told that the new rule is one $$ off coupon + any promotion coupons (like the buy a logitech keyboard and get the wireless mouse for free with XXX code..)

I placed two orders yesterday and only one came in this morning. The price looks fine on this one but now I'm worried about my second order. If it comes up with only one $25 discount I think I'll just call back and tell them I want to use a $40 coupon. They should just credit me the $15 that way. So, not as good as getting it from Amazon.com but easier than returning this one and placing a new order...

Was fun while it lasted. Guess it's back to ordering items in the $75-100 range again to make use of their coupons.

I also got screwed by Staples.com! I was quoted a price of 147.69, but my reciept came out to 221.54, where only 1 coupon was applied instead of 3. F.Y.I, I talked to a supervisor who refunded me $30 dollars (the savings of my smallest coupon). I will speak with Bob Igel tommorow to try and get the Palm IIIxe for the price quoted. I suggest anyone else who is experiencing the same problems to do so, because a verbal contract with a company representative (i.e CSR) is legally binding and they should not be allowed to screw people like that (even if we're screwing them =) )

SurfinDaNet-

I talked to Bob Igel today, who was a total asshole. He didn't help at all. Did anyone who initially got screwed find a way to get unscrewed?

staples did the same thing to me although they didn't ship it and even though the csr said that i could use three coupon codes. so when i called, i cancelled my order and bought it @ amazon for $149.00 after the $50 coupon and the $50 rebate:p

Well, I got mine in today. Total coupons....$75! Have to check my credit card bill when it comes in just to make sure.

I did receive mine, and just filling out the rebate part of it.
It's different the csr charged me tax on total amount, which they should be doing, but staples always refunded tax for coupon amount.

Anyway the total comes to

(Price -coupons +tax -MIR =Final Cost)
249.99 -75.00 +15.00 -50.00 =139.99

Doh! Tried stacking coupons at Staples, but the CSR said only 1 dollar off
coupon at a time (but I could combine it with a specific product coupon)--oh well,
tried to get the Visor Platinum--didn't have it in stock yet (even though the website
said they did)--apparently some shipping problems--tried for Deluxe, but only had
green and orange (I wanted one of the blue or ice ones)... at least she was nice
(unlike some of the other Staples ppl I've heard about....)

Just to WARN you people who have just purchased this unit that there is a production fault with a batch of the cradles. Mine was sent from McDonough, GA. The problem involves HotSync Manager and when it tries to load itself on bootup. The desktop freezes and when you hit Ctrl+Alt+Del to access Win98 Task Manager, it says that Msgsrv32 is "not responding", but when you "End Task", Hotsync finally loads in and you are able to proceed normally then. This happens all the time, even with the latest versions of Palm Desktop & HotSynce Mgr.

Palm is sending me an ADAPTER to cure this problem. Apparently the voltage setting for the cradle serial connection is set incorrectly and I was told by the CSR to leave my cradle unplugged until I get the adapter or else it might do some serious damage to my PC.

Hope you don't get a faulty one :)
