Very nice :) For the real cheapskates, there's an MSN package there for $0.01, so you can save an extra $0.15 on your purchase. Just search for item # 446430 :)

I don't think you have to add on anymore items since Staples will add Amazon's shipping price on top of the 199.00 pricematch which would bump it over 200.00.

Just a warning to those who are going to try this, you may have a tough time.

I tried to PM with Office Depot (also selling the Palm IIIxe for $199), but Staples wouldn't PM.

Read the email I received in this
previous thread

I tried PM with Amazon after seeing this post (Palm IIIxe thread #17?), but Staples wouldn't PM.

Their official lame excuse is that both Office Depot and Amazon have this "instant rebate" of $50 already taken off, whereas Staples has a mail-in rebate of $50. I also pointed out that ShopHarmony nad Shop4Digital are selling it for < $200 before the rebate.

That's HS but after trying to "reason" with 4 different CSRs I give up.

you guys are getting a little fishy with your tactics -- use a coupon and then pricematch?? why should they do that for you?

Stores will pricematch after a coupon, but you can't use a second coupon on TOP of that! Geeze...you think they're stupid or something?

I had no problems pricematching with Office Depot and was also able to use the $40 coupon.

I'm auctioning my old Palm III and it's up to $110 with a few hours left. I was going to replace it with the Palm m100, but the IIIxe is actually cheaper with this deal.

>>>staples: Amazon.com is giving the final price after the mail in rebate. You will actually pay $249 at Amazon.com also<<<

Strange that they should say that...I put the Palm IIIxe in my Amazon cart and it shows a price of $199.00, and not $249.00...no fine print anywhere about the rebate.

I'd try Staples again with another CSR.

GISGURU I would also say that you just got a CSR who doesn't know what he is talking about. The price on Amazon is without the rebate.

If you PM over the phone, how do you include a receipt when sending in the rebate?

Can someone PLEASE post the rebate URL? I can't find it either in the Staples or Amazon websites.

Thanks
Debbie

What about shipping? Amazon's shipping is $20 for next day. Wouldn't that make it $130?

I just PM'ed with Staples at 1:35PM using the OfficeDepot.com site. The CSR said a number of people had called about the PM on the iiixe. They HAD thought that the $199 at Amazon and OD included an instant rebate, but now realize that this is not the case -- the CSR thus performed the PM without a problem.

And OffficeDepot.com, like Staples.com, has free overnight shipping for orders over $50. Thanks for the heads-up on this great deal!

Don't forget you can also get $40 more off Amazon's price without going through Staples.

Just trade in some unused frequent flyer miles at Milepoint for a 20% off Amazon Electronics certificate. I've done this countless times this year and it works like a charm every time. Believe me, with some of the holiday deals Amazon had, adding another 20% off through Milepoint has been a real cool deal, daddy-o.

Summary:

$199 Amazon price for Palm IIIxe
-$50 Rebate
-$40 Milepoint/Amazon Certificate
----------------------------
$110 net cost for the IIIxe

Who needs Staples?

Thanks Targus!

Now excuse the stupid question... what if the invoice shows the date it was PROCESSED and since it will be here on Monday, it doesn't show processed until, say tomorrow? How do I show I placed it today?

Thanks,
Debbie

Well I called Staples and pricematched... they charged me under $2 for shipping... total price before tax was $201.99 ... they added tax and it came to $110.64 ... them BAM $40 OFF $200 ... $170.64 ... total price after rebate is $120.64 ... SWEET! :)

Will be here Monday.

To the original poster... why would you apply the coupon BEFORE the pricematch ????????? Why why why???

(P.S. I pricematched it with Amazon.com).

I've tried pricematching before and it didn't work... well that's why they didn't carry the item, not their fault at PM... and MAN I missed the laminator for $5 deal :( I didn't believe in PM, but now I'm a true believer!!! Man the operator didn't even bat an eye. I was like does it come with a rebate? She said yes in the box. How much? $50. Is that before or after the $170? After.

Thanks! I almost paid $80 for a 2 meg cheapo organizer  at the local Officemax.

Phone PM is great for those of us without an OD, Staples, CompUSA in our area!

Debbie :)
